Accessible surveys
Here are some best practices to keep in mind when designing accessible surveys and tests.
Contrast
Default SurveyLab theme keeps the contrast 4.5:1.
WCAG defines three accessibility levels A, AA, and AAA. The contrast depends on the level and text size. High-contrast colors improve readability and visibility, which helps individuals with low vision or other visual impairments distinguish text and objects.
| WCAG level | Standard text | Large text | Icons/UI |
|---|---|---|---|
| A | – | – | – |
| AA | 4.5:1 | 3:1 | 3:1 |
| AAA | 7:1 | 4.5:1 | 3:1 |
Alt text
Add alt text for the images used in the survey so the screen readers can recognize and read them.

Languages
Set the survey default language and add additional languages if your respondents speak different languages. SurveyLab supports 68 different languages, including right-to-left written languages.
